| Ashanthi live in Doha |

The Sri Lankan community in Doha got an injection of soul into their lives last Saturday. Ashanthi along with Bathiya & Santhush (BNS) performed for a crowd of close to 3000 at Doha's Stafford International School. 'The crowd was brilliant' says Ashanthi 'I swear this show is the best I've done in the Middle East so far'.
Ashanthi says the biggest highlight of her visit to Qatar was the hospitality of the concert's organizing committee. The logistics behind the concert were headed by the board of Stafford International School Doha. 'There was a real sense of warmth about the way they treated us' smiles Ashanthi. 'Even though we were there for a short time, leaving Doha felt like leaving behind part of your family'.
What amazes Ashanthi the most about the concert crowd was their knowledge of her song lyrics. 'It's the most amazing thing. I swear people in the crowd knew the lyrics to Sandawathuren, Ale and Oba Magemai word for word. I know this because I could see them signing them while I performed. Sandawathuren was officially released less than a month ago in Sri Lanka. Ale hasn't even been played on radio yet but somehow the crowd seemed to know it by heart. That's the beauty of the internet for you' she smiles.
Ashanthi and BNS are currently awaiting confirmation on another concert in Doha scheduled for December this year. 'I can't wait to go back. I hope my workload allows me to stay their a little longer though. I'm curious about what Doha looks like during the Christmas period.' says the young soul singer.
